Declomycin belongs to the tetracycline antibiotics. It fights bacteria in the body. Declomycin is used to treat many different bacterial infections (urinary tract infections, acne, gonorrhea, chlamydia, etc.). It works by stopping the growth of bacteria, it fights it in the body.
This drug may also be used for treating a certain hormone imbalance which causes your body to retain water and your urine to be more concentrated than it should be. Declomycin works by increasing the amount of water in your urine to more normal levels. Declomycin will not treat a viral infection such as the common cold or flu.

Dosage and direction
Take Declomycin exactly like it is prescribed by your doctor. Do not take in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended. Follow the directions on your prescription shedule.Take demeclocycline on an empty stomach, at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal with a full glass of water. do not take it right before bedtime because you should not lie down for 30 minutes after taking this drug. Take this medication 2 to 3 hours before or after taking any medications that containe magnesium, aluminum, or calcium. For adults usual dally dose is 4 divided doses of 150 mg each or 2 divided doses of 300 mg each. For pediatric patients above eight years of age usual dally dose is 7 to 13 mg per kg body weight per day, depending upon the severity of the disease. Children should not take more than 600 milligrams of this medication per day. Do not share this medication with another person, even if they have the same symptoms you have. If you take this medication long-term, your blood, kidney and liver function may need to be tested. Visit your doctor regularly. If you are taking this medication to treat an infection, continue to take it until the full prescribed amount is finished, even if symptoms disappear after a few days. Declomycin is usually given for up to 2 days after lab tests show that the infection has cleared. Stopping the medication too early may result in a return of the infection. Tell your doctor if your condition persists or worsens.
